Thursday Link Love: Crankbunny

By far one of my favorite card shops is Crankbunny.  I just noticed that she came out with a new book on making your own how-to book called The Secret Society of Paper Cuts. 

Amongst the favorites in her shop are the Tatooed Bearded Man and Lady Puppets.  I bought my girlfriend one of the Pop Up Flower Cards.  And I splurged and bought myself the Perpetual Calendar.  Her illustrations are fabulous and the mechanics of each card are fascinating.   Every product I have purchased from her is of the highest quality, so I'm sure this book will be fabulous too!

Retro anthropomorphic school photos.  Do I need to say more? 

My favorite, of course is the goat.  (For those of you who don't know me, I have a thing for goats - especially cashmere goats.  I think goats in general are hilarious.)  I think I dated the monkey in high school - he looks like a geek.

One of my new favorite artists is Sandra Arteaga.  Her mixed media creations are so expressive.  Her characters transport me to her little wonderland, far away from my daily grind.

I have always loved Victorian & Turn-of-the-century sepia portraits.  There is something so elegant and proper about the dress and poses that eliminates the potential of the twisted histories that they hide.  As an outsider,   I am oblivious to their sordid tales.  Enter Sandra Atrteaga. 

Her anthropomorphic photos add that story back into the picture - adding character where once there was just a shell.  Love it!

I just adore Norma Toraya's (aka Crankbunny) work.  I've purchased her cards on a few occasions and they are all of the highest quality.  I also just treated myself to this perpetual calendar.  It's both beautiful and ingenious!  I couldn't be more thrilled to have a piece of her work to look at everyday :)

I love etsy.  I love the idea of finding unique items and being able to sell things I create.  I love the community that it creates.  I love the friends that I have found through etsy, that share my handmade passion.  I want to share that love with you!

So, I am giving away one $25 USD gift card to etsy.  You can use it in any shop that accepts gift cards, including MaxAndCoPost.  Here are the rules to enter:

Minor Postcards from Finland

I just received this postcard from Minor Postcards in Finland and I wanted to share it with you.  I love the composition of the photo. It has a very Edward S. Curtis feel to it.  Even with the simple composition, it has a very indigenious Finnish feel.  I also love that the woman is working on her craft project - the whole idea of handmade.  The weight and feel of the postcard are great too.  I highly recommend Minor Postcards!
